Served in 12oz goblet, with an orange slice on the rim. Poured a very dark brown, almost black, with an inch of tan head that had good retention but no lacing.
The aroma started out with a surprising roast note from the Skagit Valley Malting malts. There were several spices used in the making of this beer, but none stood out, they were nicely melded. On the togue though, those herbs came on a bit stronger, and complemented the malts nicely.
The body was medium-thin, and had a dry finish. Drinkability was good, as there were enough flavor components to keep it interesting throughout the glass. Overall, a solid and enjoyable brew, worth trying if you see it.
