Poured from 12oz can into a dimpled mug. Canned 8/28/23.

Appearance: medium copper hue with just a kiss of haze and two fingers of frothy ivory foam atop (I admit I poured a little vigorously). Looks good!

Smell: malty with plenty of caramel and a bit of toffee, and a certain berrylike fruitiness that I tend to associate with rye beers. A nice take on an amber.

Taste: caramel, toffee, and a rather bready character up front, with an earthy finish and a moderate-to-high bitterness. Pretty good for an amber ale!

Mouthfeel: medium body with a good carbonation and a nice, smooth creaminess.

Overall: a pretty solid amber, although I think maybe the sweetness of the rye and the bitterness present here don't play super well with each other as far as making me want another one. Not totally for my palate, but if you liked ambers or rye, worth checking out.

Handsome coppery amber color with abundant foam in the Maredsous goblet. Very aromatic with the most unusual flowery and grainy notes. Crisp and clean taste. Quite spicy but not overly bitter with rye.

This is a really flavorful and interesting beers. Maybe here is more rye flavor, or something about their mix of malt and hops makes it exceptional. Moderate but distinct bitter aftertaste with that rye spice in the nose. Actually, this would be good to mix with a Lager or even a Blonde Ale that needs a little help. From the 12 oz can purchased at Elizabeth Station.
