16oz can. Poured an opaque, dark brown color with a small, off-white head of foam. It smelled of coffee, roasted malt and bread crust. Nice coffee roastiness with with toffee and caramel.

Pours a dark mahogany - great clarity although not see-through given the dark color. Thin tan head dissipates rather quickly. Head is a bit too light, even with a vigorous pour.
Aroma is very earthy - notes of nuts, toasted malts, dirt, old leaves, fresh wood are all there. For a mild it has a rather pungent aroma.
Taste is quite nice - lots of nutty overtones, toasted malts, a tad grainy, but really just a hint. Simple and straightforward while hitting all the notes it should.
Feel is a bit watery - light - too light for the style, I'd expect a bit more body. Mild carbonation is spot on.
Overall I'd like so see more head and a bit more body, but otherwise this is a quite well done mild. Very enjoyable and flavorful.

I picked up a Crowler of this brew on a Saturday afternoon at the brewery. Nice time talking with the owner. The beer is dark, nearly blac, with ruby hightlights. A slim tan head fades quickly. The aroma is of nutty, toasted malt with a bit of grain. Think mixed nuts. The taste has nut-based, lightly roasted notes. I get roasted grains and a little coffee. Full in body, drinkable. Bitterness just for balance. Not a bad mild. I think that this is an under-appreciated style, and this one is noteworthy for the attempt. Still, I wish it had a bit more character.

Dark brown to black in color with a fingernail of brown on top. The aroma is of cocoa powder and a gentle dose of dark malt. I'm tasting cocoa and chestnuts. There's lots of flavor for the ABV. The mouth is light and fairly smooth.
