L- Pale yellow, a tiny bit of haze. Poured with 2mm head of big bubbles that was gone inside 10 seconds (the latter = not impressive, as this is my regular glass so I can say that was really unusually fast to go).
S- Mild wheat and in parallel the expected though mild spice.
T- The wheat and spice both come through more clearly on the palate. The taste is quite 'bright' though due to unusually high carbonation in the mouth; also unusually high vs the now zero head of any kind at all.
F- For a 5.2% Hefe I'd expect a bit more of a rounded-richness side to it; I realise that's not a popular characteristic in 'hipster lagers', but it comes over as rather thin on feel.
O- I lived for three years in Germany, drunk a huge range of their beer, hundreds of brews, so feel I have a good view of what Hefeweizen style can and should be like. This is the first non-German Hefe that I have had and it's drinkable but for me it misses the mark. The CO2 in the glass was shot from the off, 3/4 way through the glass in c10mins and the CO2 is zero on my palate too. The wheat + hints of spice are authentic but there is insufficient Feel to bring it all together. The end result is disappointing, and then when considering the high price, even more so. My suggestion to x-ref this one to would be to get either a Paulaner Weizen or Weihenstephaner Hefe from M+S or Waitrose. A 500ml bottle of either will cost less than £2, 'less than 1/2 price' compared to this can.
