From the bottom of the can: "NO STATIC AT ALL 05/11/2018"
Appearance: It has a hazy body that leans closer to a light gold than a beige. It sports a very short white head that doesn't last long and doesn't leave any lacing. It's not the best looking beer in a glass but it has a nice color.
Aroma: This beer has a ton of aroma. While pouring from the can and even while the head was settling it just blasted the room with this fruity scent. Mostly it is this freshly sliced mango aroma but it has a big pineapple scent as well.
Taste: There is a bit of alcohol in there and an odd astringent woody character. Very little of that fruity character from the nose comes through on the palate. There is a light bit of what tastes like grapefruit pith but mostly, aside from the alcohol flavor, the beer has you hunting for flavor.
Mouthfeel: It has very low bitterness, a light body, and it finishes wet. It just doesn't feel that pleasant to drink. It's like a ghost on the palate.
Overall: The beer feels unfinished as though it is still on the drawing board. There isn't a lot of flavor or bitterness to the beer so in the end it is just a wet soup of nothingness that smells really good. The alcohol comes through which isn't necessarily bad but there are many competitive beers on the market that do a better job of hiding it. This beer is clearly a stab at the New England IPA style and it just doesn't have the flavor required to make it to the finish line. Overall it feels like the average attempt at the style. On the positive side of things it smells really good so there is some enjoyment to be had with this beer. It's not a beer I will likely buy again and it's not one I would recommend. The label says "FREQUENCY MODULATION, #1" and if there is a #2 I would probably pick it up to see if there were any improvements, but I wouldn't buy #1 again.
