12oz can from Sprayberry Bottle Shop (Marietta, GA). 3.69. Canned 6/22/18. Served in a Scofflaw snifter. Enjoyed 7/10/18.
Pours a cloudy deep orange with an ecrue cap just shy of two fingers. The head shrinks to some small islands, a full belt and a few thin trails where the initial head rested.
Smells of rich tropical fruit, citrus and a little cake. The fruity sweetness intensifies as it warms.
Taste follows the nose. Huge guava and orange notes upfront with a good dose of passionfruit followed by caramel, citrus skin, a slight grassy note and a surprisingly subtle nip of alcohol.
Medium full, almost slick feel with ample carbonation. The aftertaste is slightly bitter and carries the POG theme nicely.
Double POG turns out to be one of my favorite IPAs from Scofflaw. Doubling the ingredients really dials up the intensity of flavor and body, both of which go a long way in earning my affections. Glad I got to try this and hope to be able to grab more than a single next time it’s available.
