Poured from the growler this beast of a barely wine is a muddy brown with tinges of red and a
nice 1/2 inch layer of foam that calms down to lightly pooling tight beaded bubbles and light
lacing. The nose is filled with sticky hops and dark malts. Chocolate, plums, and more hops
abound. Flavor is of chocolate malts and strong bittering hops on the front and back, a strong
brandy like quality dominates the aftertaste with dark plums, dark roasted malts and hops
bouncing off the wall with a strong alcohol presence. Very warming-----very satisfying.
A very nice, VERY solid barley wine in the American style. Also available
in a bourbon barrel cask. This one would be great to have bottled and laid down for a few
good years to try again.
