Sample sized pour at brew pub
It smells fairly sweet with some maple syrup, a lot of vanilla, and burnt sugar. Slightly nutty too.
The yams seem to be more noticeable in the flavor. Very chewy and sweet with strong brown sugar notes. The maple is very prominent too. Some vanilla soaked sweet nuts in the end. It seems to be lacking in malt flavor though.
Body is fairly thin. Maybe a bit too watery.
I love the flavors. It just seems like they need a bit stronger base beer for a backdrop. I didn't get any real porter flavor.
