BA blackberry Berliner
Pours a deep ruby purple with a thin foamy head that disappears. Smells of fresh blackberry, lemon peel, acidic tartness, wet oak. Tastes of fresh blackberry up front with just enough tartness, followed by lactic tartness, lemon peel, and wet oak. The finish is dry with more blackberry and oak. Medium body with light carbonation, dry tart finish. Oak adds a nice woodiness to compliment tartness of berries

Cloudy dark red with no head despite some remaining whisps.
Taste is really tannin and oak heavy with red wine, red grape, woody char, and mostly malic but verging into acetic acidity. This is nearing Jester King territory but is losing a little of the fruit for the sake of sourness, with some crisply toasted poppy seed accentuating these other attributes, over a slick, smooth, and crisp body with a velvety yet dry finish.
Smell is charred oak, red wine vinegar, blackberry, seedy raspberry, sesame and Colby-Jack.
The time in barrels allowed for a marked improvement on the already good Blackberry Berliner base, making for an exceptional sour that has just proven to me that Jackie O's can actually stand side by side with the best out there.
