This oil slick black body has almost no head besides some tight, dark tan bubbles, while clear fluid legs slink around on the glass.
The nose is chocolatey and nutty with a smooth roast, a little almond milk and spirit oakiness.
Taste has a bit of splintery oak and a touch of perfumey brandy bringing a more tolerable, even enjoyable heat that underlies chocolate covered walnut and almond. Light peppery bourbon and charred oak come out within the tingly, smooth medium-light body that has a semi-dry numbing swallow, where candied raspberry, nougat and Tootsie Roll come out on the exhale.
This is way more balanced and less hot than Apple Brandy Oil.

Thanks to Bpfahl for this 375ML bottle, the last of a trade that I really should apologize to him for. Split with no one. NO ONE! MINE!
The pour drops lead heavy, with negative apparent carbonation. Sweet malt, roast, touch of brandy, but mostly fall nuts. Fallen nuts. Nuts.
Oil of Aphrodite – Double Barrel Aged is like drinking liquid iron. Cold liquid iron. Dead flat & filling me up like gas station cheesecake. Flat, matte black brandy, flat wood, booze, sweetness like sniffing pure cane sugar, all with zero depth at all. So flat. Not easy to drink.
Easily the worst of the Aphrodite series, this is a seriously flawed beer. Whatever shiny qualities this may have had, they’re drowned & suffocated by the lack of carbonation.
