Had on tap. Shimmering jet black with only a slight tan ring. Wood, port, roasted malt, dark fruit, something almost some red currant, dark chocolate, and char in the nose. Taste is a little more muddled, getting more booze than flavor from the port, with plenty of wood, roasted malt, earth, dark chocolate, and dark fruit. Feel is robust, boozy, verging on sweet but lands on lush with some contrasting ruggedness. Liked the non-ba version better

Sample at EBF. Dark black with a frothy tan head that persists. Rich chocolate coffee and caramel against some earthy hops all rapped up in a light jam like barrel. Fantastic beer.
