Blind-tasted I just know the name + ABV%
L- Pours jet black with a partial dark tan head. ps. Holds up ok considering the ABV.
S- Not as pungent as anticipated, just a mild liquor note.
T- Ooph, wine-barrel aged? Then liquor-barrel after that? It reminds me of Barley Wine, ie high ABV%+a wine aspect+a rich aspect, verging on slightly sweet. Long/short: Full-on.
F- Well it's certainly bold, loud, blunt even. The liquor, and I'm thinking brandy barrels now, is OTT. I don't need my palate nakedly whacked as hard as this, it can be done far more subtly. - And to be clear I've enjoyed dozens of beers right up to c18% that have shown it can be done with finesse. Try visiting Iceland if you want to see!
O- This one hasn't really worked for me which is a shame as IIRC it's the most expensive beer I have ever bough - out of 2k+ beers. I could have got 2+ bottles of the legendary trappist Westvleteren XII for the same price but I thought this worth a punt. Not one I'd buy again, yelling isn't classy.
Bought from Bacchanalia, Mill Road, Cambridge, UK. £17.50/375ml BB: 21/11/2044
p.s. After review+rating^ I'll read the lable and see what's ctually going on...
Right, Barley Wine is added, makes sense. Maple syrup too yeugh!! Bourbon barrel ageing... yep, sums it up really.

375ml bottle poured into a snifter
A- pours black in color with a one-finger foamy khaki head that quickly reduces to a ring around the glass
S- aromas of dark chocolate, charred wood, anise, caramel, toffee, leather, tobacco, brownie crust and woody oak
T- brownie batter and caramel swirl sweetness up front, followed by notes of earthy tobacco, figs and raisins. The finish brings out some oaky barrel, adding bourbon and vanilla. The barrel sticks around on the linger, as well as more brownie and caramel
M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a creamy mouthfeel that continues into a silky warming finish
O- definite stout and barleywine notes identifiable, but they all work well together

Look - black thick syrup with a slight rim and no real head
Smell - strong boozy caramel with toasty malts
Taste - caramel malty toasty with maple, has that slight quad taste to it with the stone fruit taken away.
Feel - medium syrup feel with a light carb and pretty creamy
Overall - really great complex Strong ale. Really enjoyed it!
