Appearance: Pours espresso colored with a quick-fading head that recedes to a ringlet; minimal lacing

Smell: Chocolate and coconut with the cinnamon also prominent; the Bourbon complements

Taste: The cinnamon is a force from start to finish with the chocolate and coconut arriving early; through the middle, the Bourbon complements, in the middle, but is rather restrained

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with low carbonation

Overall: A bit too much cinnamon here for my palate but not bad

Thanks, The_Gingerbeard_man, for the opportunity

Dark Apparition is a great base beer from Jackie O's. This variant included coconut and cinnamon on the back end. The cinnamon is strong and finishes with the barrel, almost like a cinnamon infused whiskey.

12.7 ounce bottle, 2020 vintage. Served in a Jackie O's snifter, the beer pours a dark brown/black color with almost an inch tan head that stuck around a little while. Not much lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like coconut, cinnamon, vanilla, bourbon and chocolate. For the most part I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also the addition of some burnt/charred malt, oaky and molasses flavors. To me the cinnamon and coconut stand out but with the other flavors still noticeable. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's slick and easy to drink with a low/moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was pretty good, definitely worth picking up if you come across some!

Dull black with muddled brown edges and a thin tan blanket settling to a fine chain around the rim.

This has a Red Hots nose and a crisp chocolatey palate. The coconut is soft and helps emulate a nougatty candy bar, finishing semi-dry. The barrel is quite mild for Jackie O's.

375ml bottle poured into a snifter
2020 Vintage

A- pours black in color with a one-finger foamy khaki colored head that has short retention and leaves nothing behind

S- equal parts cinnamon and bourbon barrel on the nose with undertones of chocolate, coconut, caramel, macaroons & fudge brownies

T- cinnamon initially, along with fudge brownies and caramel. Mid-palate gives a bold coconut note that pops through the initial cinnamon, along with barrel juice and woody oak. The finish brings out notes of chocolate, along with more coconut and cinnamon

M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a slightly foamy mouthfeel and finish

O- the cinnamon and coconut really come through, making this one of my favorite dark app variants to date
