Imperial Stout brewed with honey and lactose, aged in bourbon barrels, and conditioned on cacao nibs, vanilla beans, and orange zest. Heady aromas of luscious chocolate and vanilla dance from the glass with a persistent pierce of lively orange. Aged in bourbon barrels for 18 months, this stout presents notes of gooey brownie batter with soft and supple waves of caramel taffy.

12.7 ounce bottle, 2022 vintage, label says 13.4% ABV. Served in a Jackie O's snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a quarter inch tan head that fizzled away quickly. Not much lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like dark chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla, bourbon, and some orange zest. Taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some honey, caramel, fudge and oaky flavors. Leans sweeter tasting but not overwhelming at all. Mouthfeel/body is full, it's creamy and rich with a moderate amount of carbonation. I liked this one overall, definitely worth trying especially if you like big imperial stouts!

Picked up a 375ml bottle from the Appalachian Vintner 12-7-22 for $17.99. 2022 edition consumed 8-22-23.
Beer poured black as night with an okay tan head that dissipated quickly.
Nose is very nice, with a nice blend of vanilla and cocoa making each sip one to anticipate.
Taste is a huge moderately roasted malt base takes on the vanilla and cocoa beans nicely and in the end the vanilla is more perceptible. Barrel is very nice as a perfect balancing agent that lingers in the background helping to tame the overall abv of 13.4%. Finishes with a kiss of vanilla sweetness.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with each sip being very smooth.
Overall another outstanding brew from the Jackie O's cellar!

A - Dark brown pour with thin, dense, toffee colored lacing and low to no carbonation.
S - Brown sugar, Bourbon, vanilla, and light sweet cocoa.
T - Brownies, oranges, cocoa, vanilla, oak, and Bourbon while finishing on the boozier sweeter side.
M - Light syrupy body that leaves a sugary, coagulated residue on the palate, a sugary residue on the lips, and warming in the back of the throat.
O - An impressive big beer worth checking out. I've always had respect for Jackie O's barrel aged program and this doesn't disappoint.

While Jackie O's is busy counting threads, we're all counting out blessings that we are able to sip this wonderful nectar-drenched imperial stout with milk sugar, cocoa, vanilla and orange zest.
Thread Count pours a deep and tawny garnet-black with a broken trickle of foam. As the bubbles dissolve, the sultry scent of toast, roast, coffee and cream carry hints of citrus, cherry, pepper and chocolate in a cola-meets-sherry kind of way. Sweeter on the tongue, the honey is evident- sweetening the early impressions with floral sweetness, caramel, toffee and chocolate with an off-dessert sensibility.
As the ale unfolds on the middle palate, the sweetness relaxes the tastebuds and the not-so-nuanced flavors of dark coffee, cocoa, peppercorn and citrus peel mingle with a sense of dark-and-stormy with old-fashioned cocktails. As the ale releases its sweeter grip, the alcohol laced late palate is redolent of strong cherry cola and a near whisky warmth.
Full bodied and off-cloying, the ale starts to drink like a toastier olde ale. Its plump ester profile provides extra frutiness beyond the orange peel. With a hint of mead always lurking in the background, the stout finishes spicy and sweet with a long linger of sherry-like sensations.

From the bottle in a snifter. This malt bomb pours a coal black oil
slick with a modest head of brwon foam that sizzles to a razor thin ring
and very nice legs with swirl. Nose of bourbon, vanilla, char, brulee, dark
chocolate, and orange zest. Flavors surpass the nose with dark fudge,
coconut cream, brulee, moderate char, subtle coffee, orange zest, and
layers of bourbon, vanilla, and faint oak. Mouth feel is full, smooth, rich,
coating, slick, faint carbonation, and a lightly warming sweet but not cloying
finish.
Overall, a good one from a great brewery.

Glossy black with a dark tan head of short height dispersing to a fine ring.
Taste starts with delicious bourbon sauce-drizzled chocolate covered orange chews before exhaling a mildly bitter, mature and peanutty char that has a hint of smoke.
The medium-light body has a mild fizz but comes to a drinkably satisfying and minimally warming semi-dry finish.
