Look: It pours brown with a tan head. Head retention is good.

Smell: It has some deep caramel aromas with some back ground chocolate notes. In addition it has some earthly and light floral notes.

Taste: It has deep caramal and chocolate with a bit of biscuit. There are earthly and light floral notes.

Feel: It has a moderate body with some background sweetness.

Overall: A well put together combination of malts with hops compliments.

From the 12 oz can in a snifter. This excellent little lurker in the fridge pours
a dark red tinged mahogany brown with a nice head of khaki foam that settles
to a thin ring, thin dusty layer, and sports some faint lacing. Nose of brown sugar,
toasted malts, and dark breaded malts with herbal hop touches. Flavors give me
exactly what I look for in a winter warmer. Toasted malts, brown sugars, dark
breaded malts leaning towards pumpernickel, and a balanced herbal hop note on
the rear. Mouth feel is medium, medium light carbonation, smooth, and finishing
with a balanced sweet and herbal hop finish that is lightly dry.

Overall----more goodness from a great brewery!

Cheers

12oz can served in a Libby globe porter glass. I can see a date stamp on the bottom of the can, but it overlapped the bottom ridge of the can and its distorted and I can't make it out. I can see a "22" and that's about it. So let's assume it was canned in the fall of 2022 for the holiday season.

Appearance: Clear dark amber, with a thin white head. Not much in the way of lacing and the head died back fairly quickly.

Smell: Toasted malts, leafy herbal hop notes, definitely English style hops here.

Taste: Quite malty, lots of flavors going on here with some toasted malt, caramel, and bready tastes. Very mild bitter finish - definitely on the sweet side for a beer.

Mouthfeel: Prickly carbonation - approaching fizzy. But good thickness underneath the carbonation. A bit sticky on the teeth.

Overall / Drinkability: I find I just want one of these - a bit too sweet overall. Maybe paired with the right food it would be better. The malts are great, but it needs more hops for balance.

Canned on 10-25-22. 12oz can poured into a tulip.

Pours a murky brown with auburn hues; small off-white head that fades leaving decent retention and lacing.

The aromas are malt forward along with some cocoa and toffee. Mild hints of smoke.

The flavors follow the nose. More cocoa along with some chocolate. More toffee along with some hints of caramel. There's a decent amount of molasses and brown sugar coming through. Hints of coffee in the mix. Moderate bitterness with a subtle sweetness. Malts do their thing. Finishes clean. Alcohol goes unnoticed.

Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with moderate to active carbonation. It's sharp, fluffy, and smooth.

This is a pretty nice "winter warmer". It has nice brown ale vibes. Nice traditional English vibes as well. It's not flashy but it's not supposed to be. It's pretty bold for not being a big beer. I really like it.

12/31/22.... Good bye, 2022! On tap at Marilyn's of Morgantown

Pours a clear black with a very slight white head.

The aroma is molasses and cedar, possibly bourbon.

Warming and slightly spicy in the mouth, I taste smoke with an after linger of sour, and a slight sweetness that balances it out nicely.

Poured from a can at fridge temp. Pours a very dark brown - almost black. Little head. The nose is full of roasted malts, a huge earthy note, a touch of molasses, and some leather. A woody note comes through as well.

The taste is really nice. Burnt toffee, dark malts, bread, molasses, a touch of honey, some dark fruit, and just a hint of soy sauce. Nicely integrated.

The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied, with a mix of bitter and sweet on the aftertaste. A really nice winter warmer.
