Named for Athens’s geographic isolation, A Place Between Places was aged in barrels which held bourbon whiskey before aging Athens County maple syrup. After 13 months of aging in these special barrels, this beer was conditioned on maple syrup sourced from the same farm and heaps of coconut carefully toasted by Jackie O’s Bakeshop.

It's a good example of a solid stout. Nice and dark. Not as oily as some stouts. The alcohol is very well hidden.
It's got strong notes of coconut, that shines right through. Virtually zero head on it. Other notes are baking chocolate.

8 ball black with a short but level and spongy tan head.
The nose is exceedingly nutty and oaky, like freshly roasted walnut with a little almond, which I think is all accentuated by the coconut presence, being a little more toasty and dry than gooey or lotiony.
The palate is also exceptionally woody--not tannic but certainly bitter despite the pastry additions--though maple comes out in the swallow, and coconut in the exhale. Wood and roast work together in tempering the chocolatey malt extremes, while softer, smoother coconut cake comes out more as it warms.

Look - Black with a short lived thick tan head but leaves fantastic rimming and lacing
Smell and Taste - Blend of Barrel, coconut, maple and chocolate. Pretty sweet but nice blend, definitely the JO taste
Feel - Full body light light light carb
Overall - pretty nice blend of flavors
