On tap in a pint glass at Bodega on 4/27/11
Dense amber; hazy and faded. 1/8th inch head of wispy foam. Thin retention. Sporadic lace catches halfway through.
Bright, clean aroma and easily well-situated toward the hops. Citric and pine overtones. Fresh oranges, lemon zest. Spicy Belgian-style yeast seems to belong in the mix. Hints of bubblegum. Not much for maltiness. Stray suggestions of fresh prairie grass. I dig it.
The Belgian yeast runs the game on the palate, dragging the hops along. Starts off with some piney bitterness and grassiness. Dry, spicy and resinous. Bubblegum center is augmented by fruit notions. Zesty citric edges. This one has a nice crackle to it. Very dry. Lightly toasted on the back end.
Medium body - slick upfront with a resiny mid-section and incredibly dry finish; lingering residual bitterness. Carbonation was prickly at first but calms over time, matching the feel and spiciness of the beer.
Apparently this is 7.5% abv? I'd have never guessed. Alcohol is well-hidden. A really nice take on the style and Jackie O's best IPA. Brad, bottle this!

A-slightly hazed golden amber color with an off white head.
S-the nose offers a hint of honey, spicy belgianyeast, citrus hops and hints of bubblegum.
T-not full flavored, spciy yeast, very clovelike flavors, disoriented citrus hop and rough assertive bitterness.
M-sloppy feel, light body, very dry and low carbonation.
D-not good, light in flavor and watered down with strong seltzer aspects.

On tap at the brewpub.
Pours with an moderately-colored orange body with a bit of haze. Really nice white head and good retention. lacing as it falls. The nose brings a bit of Belgian yeast plus some very light hopping. Balance between the two but nothing really pushing forward. The flavor takes things up a notch with some really nice floral and citrus hoppy notes, the former of which combines nicely with the earthy Belgian yeast. Mouthfeel is nice and smooth with a slightly-bitter finish. A very nice take on the style.
