Bottled on: 2024 (???)
A - Dark brown pour with thin caramel colored lacing. Lots of viscosity on the sides of the glass with no lacing or carbonation.
S - Chocolate, fudge, and Bourbon dominate the nose.
T - Fudge, Bourbon, chocolate, more Bourbon, chocolate and more Bourbon... a slight bit, a slight bit of acidity and a little bit of dark fruit.
M - Light syrupy with warming on the way down.
O - Solid. Did I let this sit too long.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a very thick black with a small amount of brown head. Gorgeous looking beer! The nose is fantastic. Bourbon, chocolate, and vanilla dominate. Next comes a hint of smoke, anise, dark fruit, and a hint of burnt toffee. This is insanely enjoyable to smell.
The taste is wonderful. Reminds me of the older barrel-aged stouts without adjuncts. The barrel shines as the star. Loads of bourbon and vanilla. Dark chocolate, blackberries, raisins, teriyaki sauce, and a hint of port. Lovely.
The mouthfeel is thick and creamy, and the aftertaste is somewhat dominated by bourbon and dark fruit. Very good beer, and honestly quite different from every other Jackie O's that I've had (and I've had quite a few).

Sweet and fudgey, with cocoa bitterness on the nose and hints of green apple or apple brandy on the palate to complement moderate barrel oak and bourbon honey. I always wish Jackie O's would give more information about provenance, because otherwise it seems like all their BBA stouts are just the same recipe with different barrels and time aged. On the plus side, that means you know what you're getting into for the most part, even if they don't tell you details.

Poured at 57°. Fizzy dark tan head with some mixed rocky bubbles; poor cap retention that leave small islands of micro dots; soapy lace with agitation; medium legs on swirl; black body with ruby edges. Nose is straight up bourbon; mild boozy retro nasal. Bourbon, oak, bittersweet dark chocolate; slightly phenolic. Silky smooth feel; medium minus body; light carbonation; some mouth warmth from 12.9% abv; not adjuncty. Overall a typical Jackie O’s impy barrel aged stout; drinks thin for abv; boozy hot linger.

12.7 ounce bottle, 2024 vintage. Served in a Jackie O's snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a half inch tan head. Read retention and lacing are both decent enough. I like the aroma, the brew smells like chocolate fudge, vanilla, caramel, dark fruit, roasted malt, oak and bourbon. Taste is similar to the aroma, with the addition of some earthiness and dark bready flavors. Nice amount of barrel character. Mouthfeel/body is full, it's slick and syrupy with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a pretty good imperial stout, definitely worth picking up if you're able to!

Poured from a bottle, the body color is an opaque black with neither head nor lacing. Possible trace carbonation. Despite effectively no carbonation, the mouthfeel is good, heavy from the malt bill and bourbon barrel.
Aroma is a wonderful sweet bourbon at these brewers seem to prefer (me too). This stout was aged for 20 months in barrels from three different distillers.
Taste follows nose as the stout is barrel forward. ABV is well masked and the alcohol is never hot. Along with a sturdy malty backbone there are notes of caramel, dark fruit and chocolate. Luxurious and heavy but not too sweet.

From the 12.7 oz bottle in a snifter. This excellent imperial pours a coal black
with a modest head of brown foam that sizzles to a thin dusty layer with some
nice legs. Nose of bourbon, vinous brandy, dark fruits, dark chocolate fudge,
and faint oak dashed with tobacco and brulee. Flavors follow the nose with
some light exceptions. Layers of dark semi sweet fudge drenched in bourbon,
strawberry jam, vinous brandy, oak, vanilla, moderate char, and subtle tobacco.
Mouth feel is full, smooth as silk, coating, rich as sin, and finishing with a nice
moderately bitter malt note balanced by sweet chocolate and warming booze.
Overall, more excellence from an excellent brewery!
Cheers

Obsidian black with a dark brown head that slowly recedes to a thick quarter pipe ridge.
After the stellar performance by Anvil Chorus the previous night, this hits similar levels of casking decadence, turning dark malts into Oreo brownies, but with a touch more drying tannin.
At the same time, it's not boozy, instead delivering explosive vanillin countered by a wisp of fadingly snuffed cigar. Just after I say it's not boozy, I do breathe some gentle fumes out the nose.
Just as excellent as Anvil Chorus, if slightly more mature, this is now the second best Jackie O's stout I've ever had.
