Growler @ DLD 2012 thanks to alexsdad06!

A - Pours black, tan head, thin collar, wisps.

S - Smooth booze, chocolate, burnt sugars, toffee, and toasted nuts. Not quite as creamy as the regular Oil, but still damn good.

T - Chocolate, smooth booze, caramel, burnt sugars. The walnuts come though as a toasted nutty malt note, which works perfectly for me. The booze is not anywhere near the 12%...impressive. Finish is chocolate and burnt sugary sweetness.

M - Medium to full, ultra-smooth, rich, light carbonation.

O - Another winner from Brad at Jackie O's...great stuff! I like this beer then the Rum Oil but not quite as much as the regular Oil. I want more and hopefully when I visit Brad it will be around (hint hint, buddy).

Amidst the 45+ Jackie O's taps, I made sure to get the Ice Oil of Aphrodite and Ice Coffee Apparition to do side by side. It was an experience to say the least. In short, both were great, but the winner was the Ice Oil of Aphrodite.

A: Pours into the taster glass a pitch black with a frothy mocha head. I had the regular Oil of Aphrodite earlier in the day, and while similar, this was just much more viscous and completely opaque. Very thick looking.

S: Unbelievable blend of rich coffee, sweet molasses, toasted nuts (almonds and pecans), sweet toffee and vanilla. Really a cornucopia of flavors bursting through, but the predominant one is coffee.

T: Like the regular Oil of Aphrodite, this is very rich with Bakers chocolate, hints of bitter roast, Hershey's syrup, molasses, and toasted nuts. But, being iced, it is amped to the next level. Incredibly rich.

Overall, this was an experience. I'm not sure I can pick a winner between the regular Oil of Aphrodite and the iced version, as both are special. Overall, job well done Brad.

I had this on-tap at Jackie O's during the bottle release weekend. Poured into a sample glass.

Appearance: Pours a dark mahogany with a layer of tan head. Head fades to a ring around the edge of the beer.

Smell: This smells really good. Sweet roast and very nutty from the walnuts. Lots of caramel showing up along with some warm alcohol.

Taste: A lot like the smell. Quite sweet with dark fruit, roast from the malt, the nuttiness that I picked up in the smell, and some caramel. The alcohol in the finish is a bit strong, but it was expected.

Mouthfeel: The body is thick and a bit syrupy with very smooth carbonation and a slick finish.

Overall: This beer was extremely easy to drink. They did a fantastic job with it and I would jump on the chance to have another if I ever get a shot.

I would like to preamble that I take reviewing on this site very seriously. After more than 900 reviews, I've never come across a beer that has been a perfect 5.0. That changed this Saturday. 4 oz. from a sampler glass.

5.0 A: Black as black gets. Super creamy dark brown head that somehow retains well. Amazing given what the brew is.

5.0 S: This is Oil of Aphrodite, only like drinking it twice at the same time. Incredibly complex, but more intense. Strong, but still supple roastiness. Overload of chocolate with emphasis on milk chocolate. Sweet caramel and molasses. Nuttiness from the black walnuts galore. Moderate hints of coffee. Despite the over the top ABV on this, the booze is well contained and is seemingly half of what it is.

5.0 T: The concepts of the nose are in the taste as well. This is Oil, but jammed with twice the flavor. All of the same flavors are found. There's a few things that I would like to add though. This is rich in flavor as you can get, but the beer never gets cloying, never gets too roasty, never gets too much of anything. It's incredibly well balanced while being complex as possible. Again, the alcohol picked up is just a shadow of the actual ABV.

5.0 M: Super thick without being at all cloying or overly chewy. Good moderate carbonation. Perhaps the creamiest brew I've ever had. Smooth as it gets.

5.0 D: I feel sorry for anyone who will never get to try this and sorry for myself for only getting one extra pour. This is, as far as I can tell, the pinnacle of beer. I urge everyone to come out to a future release if this will be on tap.
