Churning out complexity through time and heat. The solo grain, Maris Otter, brims the mash tun for a long soak. A portion of the first runnings were boiled and reduced, triggering the Maillard reaction; through which, the vigorous heating of sugars adds a deeper color and flavor. The boil is then continued to further increase said reaction. A prolonged nap of 38 months in bourbon barrels and conditioning on maple syrup, wildflower honey, and walnuts finishes off this luxurious prize. Indulge in Prodigality’s warm embrace with notes of burnt sugar, sweet prune, oak, leather and a candied, earthy nuttiness.

Look - mahogany almond brown with nice rimming and lacing
Smell - caramel toffee bourbon barrel sweet candied walnuts and booze
Taste - definetly candied walnuts. You get the walnut, maple, honey along with some toffee caramel and barrel and booze
Feel - full BW depth with a slight creaminess to it and a very very slight carb
Overall - really outstanding

Poured at fridge temp from a can. Pours a murky brown with minimal head. I'm not going to lie - this is not a good looking beer.
The nose is wonderful. Bourbon, honey, caramel, walnuts, maple, vanilla, and a hint of leather.
The taste is actually fantastic. The walnuts really pop here. If you like walnuts, you will love this beer. It's like a bowl of walnuts drizzled in maple syrup. Also getting a nice boozy bourbon, although this tastes way lower than 15.6% ABV. Vanilla, toffee, brown sugar, and figs for days. Lovely.
The mouthfeel is pretty viscous and creamy. The aftertaste is caramel, maple, and honey. Great barleywine! Definitely a different take!
