12oz bottle into snifter.

A: Pours near black with a finger of fizzy short-lived milk chocolate colored head that quickly faded into thin collar.
S: Huge tart fruit notes mixed with acetone, diacetyl, mild roast, lemon juice, dark chocolate hints and just a touch of bourbon vapor. Smells more like an infected stout than a well done sour stout.
T: More tart notes of rough acid, acetone and vinegar up front followed by sweeter boozy flavors of bourbon barrel stout. Caramel, dark chocolate and raisin bring up the rear with dates, butter and lemon citrus in the aftertaste. If blueberry is in there than it’s the most tart, sour, and non-fruity type of blueberry flavor I’ve had.
M: Very harsh and acidic mouthfeel, thankfully low and soft carbonation, and a rather thick, heavy and viscous body. Wouldn’t be bad if it wasn’t for that initial harsh bite.
O: I could kind of see where they were trying to go with this, but unfortunately it just didn’t turn out well. Needs more blueberry flavor, and the tartness need polishing. Only choked down an ounce or two.

Dark App put into a 7 gallon bourbon barrel with blueberries added. Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tasting glass.

3.5 A: Black color. Small creamy light brown head.

2.5 S: Bourbon isn't very strong and the beer doesn't smell much like Dark App. The chocolate that makes the beer great is for the most part missing Supple roastiness. Light diacetyl. Super tart blueberries (like completely unripened) doesn't fit in well.

1.5 T: Huge amounts of tart blueberry. This resembles a sour more than an RIS. Touch of diacetyl again. Very faint bourbon. Light roast, but not much else from what I know Dark App to taste like.

2.0 M: Lighter medium body. This even feels more like a sour than a stout. No creaminess to speak of.

1.5 D: Massively disappointing. I wouldn't have pegged this as an RIS if I had it in a blind tasting, let alone Dark App. Everyone I talked to hated this one. No redeeming qualities.
