The liquid is garnet colored. Clear. Moderate head which settles to mostly rim bubbles. Excellent curtains of lace on the glass as the beer is consumed.
Brown ale aroma of darker toast with a light sweetness. Faint metallic smell that doesn't detract.
Dryer than the smell with a deeply roasted malt. No chocolate or burnt flavors (initially), more like a darker brown ale. There's a pleasant bitterness in the swallow with a faint burnt and smoky flavor. The aftertaste continues this effect for a long time.
