Everyone needs good neighbours and we really lucked out with ours. Every year Siren Craft Brew produce a big barley wine called Maiden to mark the anniversary of their first brew. The beer is aged in a variety of spirit and wine barrels before being blended and released at the start of the following year. This year, they invited us to produce something from the second runnings of the monster maiden mash. 800L of wort was forked round the corner to us. We boiled it up and threw in some Mosaic. In your hand is one of around 800 bottles. We hope you love it as much as we love having wonderful neighbours!

330ml bottle served in a tulip. Bottled: Jan 2017 / Best Before Jan 2019 printed on the label. Pours a dull mahogany with a creamy, two inch, off--white head that slowly sizzles and pops until it recedes into a half inch clumpy froth. Nose expresses caramel, hints of spice, a suggestion of candied figs and some metallic notes. Taste consistent with nose. Fortunately the metallic character drops off and the Mosaic spice is more prominent. Mouthfeel is light-medium in body with a lively carbonation and a light oiliness to the texture. Overall, a very nice American barleywine. Hits all the marks with the exception of the metallic aromas in the nose. A solid exemplar of the style.
