Old Fogey Hazy IPA

From the can, it pours a darker than expected amber heavily hazed with a nice head that diminishes to a thick ring. The neose is assaulted by tropical fruits-I get pineapple predominating. In the mouth, less pineapple, more other tropicals and a well balanced malt flavor.

Is that a Pokemon in the can? Beer pours a deeper color than expected for the style, suggesting this could be a married take on a NEIPA. Smallish head with some lacing. Nose is really over-ripe mango with maybe some caramel malts in the background. Taste does have some residual sweetness, but isn't as malty as I was expecting. Tropical juicy and a little dank. A bit prickly on the tongue...which at first I thought was a detractor, but now I'm digging. Overall, a very good beer that doesn't quite reach top tier even though it is priced that way.

 

From the bottom of the can: "MY HOPS DON'T LIE 8/13/18"

Appearance: The body is a murky, opaque beige and orange color. The can says "HAZY IPA" and given the appearance this will likely be a New England Style IPA. The head is short, white, fluffy, and has good retention.

Aroma: It has a nice aroma of mango, tangerine, and a bit of peach. It smells a lot like a fruit cup.

Taste: There is a bit of a wheat flour taste to the beer followed by a nice mix of grapefruit, pineapple skin, and a bit of mango. There is a light bit of alcohol that comes through and it is slightly grassy.

Mouthfeel: It feels thick but drinkable. Low bitterness and just a light bit of raspiness.

Overall: It's a good New England Style IPA and I would buy it again from time to time. The beer would go well with something light like a salad or fish.

 

Solid Hazy style. Picked up a 4 pack from the brewery. Looks like OJ when poured. Smell is of tropical fruit like mango and pineapple. Very dank tasting, very resinous and tropical flavors as well.
