Can to snifter, the appearance was a fairly dark brown close to black color with a quickly dissipating small semi-foamy tan head. No lace.
The aroma had the sweet side of blueberry flesh along with some sweet tones of maple syrup then sweet ashy coffee. An odd clean 'ashtray' smell came through with milk chocolate, sugary lactose and vanilla cream.
The flavor yields to the sweetness of it all throwing the balance off as I would have liked some of the earthy character through the coffee or maybe some smoke from the maple syrup but alas, none of that ever happened. Long aftertaste of rich maple syrup, sweet sticky blueberries and milk chocolate.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Moderate stickiness and dryness. Finishes dry with some milk chocolate, maple syrup and blueberries.
Overall, I want to like or maybe love this beer as I see so much potential in it - the aroma was absolutely amazing!
