We love our fruited sour beers, and sometimes we just can't pick which fruit we love best. Rather than choose, we decided to make a fruit "punch" style sour with blueberry, blackberry, raspberry, and boysenberry! Soured as always with our house culture in the tank, this tart and refreshing ale received 300 pounds of fruit in the fermenter -- we could barely fit it all! A beautiful magenta pour makes this beer as visually irresistible as it is delicious. Very limited draft and cans to go. Come get some!

It looks like recent evolutions of this beer feature one type of berry. I bought a 16 oz can at the Casual Pint in Va Beach Va. The can listed Raspberry puree, raspberry sherbet, pink lemonade, lactose and vanilla. Definitely a raspberry theme here. The beer features a dense, hazy magenta color with a big, frothy light pink head. The head and lacing seem more like what you would find in a tall glass after an ice cream sundae rather than anything beer-like. The look takes a bit of getting used to but it was definitely crafted to look this way. Sherbet and lactose give a dairy like aspect to the beer. Aroma and flavor start with raspberry all the way. The fruit is sweet, but this beer is a"sour" and the lemonade kicks in as a balance to the sweetness. I have had good luck with raspberry flavoring in a beer and this one is no exception. Good strong aroma and taste. Mouthfeel is "thick" like a milkshake. the good flavoring and balance between the sweet fruit and the more sour lemonade is also good. A very unusual beer but tasty!!!!

I don't see a date on the bottom of the can or the label.
Appearance: It pours a dark purple with shades of pink. The head is very fizzy with a purple-pink appearance that quickly fades out. No retention or lacing.
Aroma: It has a musky fruit aroma with notes of raspberry and mulberry.
Taste: The beer opens with a slightly tart and, more so, sour fruit flavor with a combination of raspberry, strawberry, and blackberry jam. There is a bit of grain in there as well.
Mouthfeel: The body is juicy and medium-bodied with a thick texture. It feels heavier than the standard Berliner Weisse. The beer feels overly acidic.
Overall: It feels like a fairly average attempt at a Berliner Weisse where fruit is thrown at the beer in an attempt to complicate what should be a more delicate beer. The can says this is made "WITH BLACKBERRY, BOYSENBERRY, BLUEBERRY, RASPBERRY AND LACTOSE." A lot of berry flavor does come through on this beer and it does feel very punch-like. but it feels very heavy-handed. It's good enough to recommend it to berry lovers but I doubt I would drink it often as a Berliner Weisse.
