There doesn't appear to be a date on the can, but there is a QR code to look up the date on the brewery website: "02-11-2022"
From the can it also states: "BATCH #621-1"
Appearance: The beer pours pinkish-purple into the glass with a deep purple body. The head looks like a large cluster of purple salmon eggs which could be trypophobia inducing. It starts with no head at all then these big egg-sack looking things emerge into a large head. It's a bit like reverse-retention where it grows over time. The head retention is good but as the head very, very slowly starts to deflate it looks a bit like a purple snake skin. The appearance is pretty crazy but also impressive. The body is opaque with a few lighter-colored floaters that are small. Lacing looks like what's left on the glass of a smoothie.
Aroma: It smells like berries as soon as it is poured. There are notes of blueberry, acai berry, raspberry, and a bit of mulberry. It has a pretty generic berry aroma but it smells like real berries.
Taste: Up front it tastes like blueberries and a bit of blackberry. The flavors are good but they don't develop over the palate.
Mouthfeel: It is smooth and easy to drink. It has a medium body which trends on the lighter side which is amplified by the airiness of the beer. It has a noticeable lack of any sourness or tartness.
Overall: It feels like you are drinking a thickened fruit juice most of the time, or a filtered fruit smoothie. The berry character is nice but there isn't much nuance to the beer and any sour notes are lost behind the very basic tartness that comes from a berry. It is still good but there isn't much here beyond berry flavor. The can states that this is a "SOUR ALE WITH STRAWBERRY PUREE, BLUEBERRY PUREE, RASPBERRY PUREE, VANILLA, AND MILK SUGAR." The blueberry and raspberry definitely showed up but the strawberry and vanilla character were absent. The beer is good enough as a whole that I would still drink it again but it isn't a complete winner. I would still recommend it as a whole but especially to people who enjoy berries. To those looking for vanilla and strawberry I would caution them that it has a more generic, albeit good, berry flavor.
