Like all the beers in our "Farm" series, this porter was brewed with rye and oats for a drinkable malt body. Chocolate malts offer a roasty element reminiscent of dark chocolate and coffee, and the aging on charred hickory logs takes this beer to another level. Look for a woody nose and a light hickory char at the finish.

Pours a light reddish brown color. Somewhat watery in appearance. Thin tan head dissipates rather quickly leaving a slick of foam on top of the beer. Ring of bubbly foam remains on the outside. Aroma is very woody and earthy - has a strong fresh cut wood aroma. Some earthy yeast is also noted. Flavor follows the nose with strong earthy malts and woody notes. Some hints of chocolate and bittering hops come through. Smooth feel with some light carbonation. Tad thin. Overall a nice rustic Porter - one I'll definitely want to revisit.
