Bottle. Pours a reddish color. Very dark red. Aroma is a disappointment. It is clearly going to be sweet. More Lindemans than anything else. Sweet, cherry. There is a little bit of mustiness and a light tartness but it does not outweigh the sweetness. Lingering sweetness. Not what I am ever looking for in this style.

Deep red, with a wonderful pink colored foam.
In the smell cherry, a light sourness, stone fruit.
In the taste a mix of smoothness, cherry. Just a bit of sourness, not for sure an extreme beer, but well done and very drinkable.
Perfect as aperitif.

Imported direct from Belgium.
Bottle looks like the art was redesigned in the 70's and barely touched since. Love that.
Pour is very fizzy and very red. Fizz dies down after a few seconds but a respectable, pinkish head remains throughout.
Aroma is cherries, firmly tart, with some inviting yeast complexities. Dry and funky, but with a good pull of organic fruit.
Sadly, the flavor is not as robust as the aroma. The cherry juice is there, but the yeast is just oddly absent. Fizz and sweet cherry juice up front, more rounded cherry juice in the middle, and the finish is a shockingly tame and bready yeast node, with just a little bit of funk on the very back end.

Bottle: Poured a deep red color Kriek with a nice large pink foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of tart cherry notes with light oak and funky notes is quite pleasant. Taste is a nice mix of fresh cherry notes with plenty of tart notes, some oak and light funky barnyard notes are also perceptible. Body is above average for style with good carbonation. Refreshing with some complexity and huge cherry flavours.

This beer was brewed again and released as a new batch (I was informed from an on-line Belgian site where purchased) in 2014. Thus, this beer is not retired.

This is the De Koninck Kriek actually brewed at Boon. Pour is mostly transparent with a deep orange color and red ruby hues. the head is light tan and thin in nature. Dusty cob webs in the nose, very dry, some sweet caramel malts, rubbery, and some articifial syrupy cherry. The taste is dry and dusty with a light to medium body. The feel is syrupy to go along with the faint artificial cherry flavor. Some sourness in back, stale tasting and a touch rubbery.

Bottle tasted at Delirium in Brussels. The beer poured a deep shade or red with a nice pink head and tons of tiny bubbles. The aroma was cherry sweet. The taste was sweet, not overly sweet, cherry and some other spice notes. There was also a acidic quality to the beer that helped to balance out the cherry to make it not too sweet for my tastes.
