650ml bomber, the first for this packaging format for Yukon, with some strangely old-timey travelogue imagery depicted on the label. Oh, and it's a Kölsch.

This beer pours a clear, pale golden yellow colour, with three fingers of puffy, tightly foamy, and somewhat creamy eggshell white head, which leaves some decent melting snowbank lace around the glass as it slowly bleeds away.

It smells of biscuity, doughy pale malt, lightly toasted white bread, ethereal white pepper, faint drupe fruit esters, a touch of yeasty white wine must, and soft earthy, floral hops. The taste is more crackery, doughy pale malt, a touch of bready caramel, muddled, and still tame table pepper, and leafy, earthy, and weakly floral hops.

The carbonation is fairly soft, with a certain lilting frothiness, the body a solid medium weight for the style, and plainly smooth, a suggestion of airy creaminess arising over time. It finishes just off-dry, and pleasantly crisp, the yeasty, bready malt firming up its grip on this offering.

A nicely-rendered Kölsch, all the subtle points hit on with aplomb and clarity. Easy-drinking, enjoyable, and worthy of serious patio/deck re-acquaintance over the coming summer months, in lieu of following up on the titular suggestion of making northbound travel plans.
