Found this at the Royal Liquor Merchants on 17th Ave. SW Calgary, they had some single bottles sitting on the shelves in their craft beer nook, but also a bunch more in the beer singles cooler up front by the cashiers.

When held to the light, this lager is a somewhat hazed, straw-like paleness, reminds me of the hue of the braggot that Alley Kat just put out for the holiday season. Medium-sized chunky white head on the pour that settles down to a thin, very white cap. Large thin patches of lacing down the glass.

Light fruity esters on the nose, light grassy hops, but the big pleasant whammy comes from some fantastic biscuity malt that seems to be the backbone of this lager.

Rich biscuity malt up front in the flavour, still a somewhat crisp grassy hop finish, with light fruit on the aftertaste. The more it warms, the more buttery the aftertaste becomes.

Smooth, almost velvety mouthfeel, except for some carbonation after the middle that gives it a bit of a kick.

A nice treat from Yukon Brewing once more, a very drinkable lager with more flavour to it than most made around these parts. And still quenching as well. It would be nice to see more of this available locally, and possibly in 6's.

--A also purchased this at Kensigton Wine Market (can you get it elsewhere)?? Came in standard brown 341 ml bottle. No freshness date found.
--Poured slightly darker than normal, kind of dirty dtaw like in color. Average head that didn't stay and very little lacing.
--Sweet, fruity smell.
The smell matched the taste, slightly fruity and sweet. I wish I could find out more info about this beer.
Thanks

Also found at Kensington Wine Market--no clue as to style, as the blue and white label simply says "Madhatters Mercury." No reference on Yukon Brewing's website. Twisting off the snowflake Yukon cap and pouring I get a dark, dull honey colour topped with a enamel-white head that was good but a little fleeting. Average lacing left clinging. The beer is clear, and a little dark for a Pilsner style lager. Again, I have absolutely no idea what style this is: appearance says lager, but the taste is not carbonated like a regular lager, and it is a little fruity, similar in some ways to a pale ale. I think Pootz is right in classifying it as a lager though, all things considered. Raspberry fruitiness on the nose, very similar to their Chilkoot lager--almost identical in fact. Vanilla and strawberry, with only hints of malt or hops. The aroma is quite sweet, and very appetising. A little honey, tart fruit juices and candy sugar. The beer is tasty, but not very different from Chilkoot(is this Chilkoot sold under a different name and label?). More sweet fruits up front, a little light malt in the middle, and a finish of vanilla wafer and a jot of dryness from the hops. Raspberry and other fruits were continually in the taste, making this, like their Chilkoot, a little queer for a lager. The carbonation is medium, certainly not fizzy or biting. Light body, easily drinkable, unoffensive, and overall very tasty as a lager. I still think this is Chilkoot though. However, taken by itself, this is a another great beer from Yukon.

Found this in the cooler at the Kensington wine Market in Calgary...no mention of it on Yukon's web site though..it may be a contract brew?? Pours pale gold with a slightly hazey look and a small white rocky cap. Nose is interesting...fruity (like cider) and malty. smooth, fruity and slightly sweet malty, attenuated hops..with the biscuit malt pounding through in the finish and leaving a malty after taste...this is almost a copy of F&M’s retooled Stone Hammer pils....but slightly sweeter.
