Another well made, quality brew from the fine folks from Whitehorse. Sampled from a growler purchased at Little Guy Liquor in “The Sugar”, Sherwood Park. This beer pours a rich, deep gold with a nice lingering white head that retreats to the edges of the glass and leaves plenty of lacing. The nose is rich, with pineapple and rye spice the order of the day. The taste profile is pine first, with hints of fruit and spicy rye malt closing the deal. The body is a lightweight, with minimal froth and staying power. Overall, a very pleasant companion for watching some awesome playoff hockey.

16oz pint at Beer Revolution YEG Oliver Square - an IPA made with a good chunk of rye malt, and a liberal dose of El Dorado hops.
This beer appears slightly hazy, medium golden apricot colour, with one skinny finger of weakly foamy and bubbly dirty white head, which leaves some dissipating fog bank lace around the glass as it quickly blows off.
It smells of muted domestic citrus rind, some pineapple and kiwi tropical fruitiness, bready and doughy caramel malt, a lesser peppery rye graininess, and more leafy, weedy, and floral green hop bitters. The taste is orange and white grapefruit cream, grainy and bready caramel malt, more subtle rye astringency, a sort of separate mixed peppercorn thing, ethereal exotic fruity notes, and some plain leafy, earthy, and musty floral verdant hoppiness.
The carbonation is fairly understated in its meek frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and generally smooth, as the rye and hop metrics don't fuss around too much here. It finishes fairly off-dry, with a nice mixed fruitiness, and some waning muttish malt presiding.
Overall, this is a pleasant enough rye-tinged IPA, with the El Dorado hops performing some heavy lifting in order to achieve the level of balance apparent in this offering. Tasty, and quite easy to put back - the only weird thing being that Yukon Dave isn't parked on the stool right next to me.
