Pours a hazy yellow. Huge toasted bready malt on the nose, no cheap graininess, very promising. At first I was blown away by the quality of the malt flavour. It tasted genuinely European, like toasted bread, rather than the cereal grain character most New World beers seem to have in their malts. The hops character was very subtle to start with, especially for a pilsner. As it warmed up, however, the hops flavour came to predominate and somewhat wash out the malt. And these are distinctly New World hops, with their sour and fruity character that you just don't get in European hops, despite this beer calling itself a Bohemian pilsner. Still it is a decent sip, smooth and drinkable, with the tension between malt and hops there - the hops are just the wrong type is all.
