Appearance - Pours a copper red with a finger of foamy white head.
Smell - earthy hops, toffee, biscuity and grainy caramel malts.
Taste - Earthy hops followed predominately by the biscuity and grainy caramel malts. The toffee comes through and adds a pleasant sweetness.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes with a lingering sweetness from the malts alongside some peat like smokiness.
Overall - An enjoyable brew. Hits all marks of the style. I would love to see this as a year round offering.

Had it on-tap a while ago at Beer Revolution, on the chalkboard it was refered to only as a Scottish Ale, not as"Yer Gallus".
Poured clear, reddish copper color. Inch of fluffy foam lasted nicely leaving chunky lace lines.
It smells of caramel malt, kind of grainy as well as some earthy hops.
The taste is a bit metallic to start, biscuit malt, slightly sweet caramel. Finishes with just a faint presence of smoke.
The carbonation level is low and smooth, medium body, creamy mouth feel.
Enjoyable, hope to see it again.

20oz 'gigot' at the SS Urban Diner in Edmonton. Apparently this was brought in for a meatball dish special a few days ago (how did I miss that?), and wasn't finished off. Happy to oblige. The name means 'you cheeky bastard', or something to that effect, and this falls into the 80 Schilling ale category of Scottish export ales.
This beer appears a clear, bright dark copper amber hue, with two fingers of puffy and foamy beige head, which leaves some pretty snowflake (aaach!) pattern lace around the glass as it gently subsides.
It smells of softly biscuity, grainy caramel malt, a bit of hard water minerality, and earthy, leafy noble hops. The taste is smoke-kissed caramel malt, subtle crystallized toffee, some mild biscuity cracker notes, a touch of ethereal citrus cream, and very tame leafy, musty hops.
The carbonation is quite understated, the body a decent middleweight, and equitably smooth, with a wee creamy twinge. It finishes on the sweet side, the rather complex malt really only contending with some lingering peaty smoke in terms of offset.
An indubitably pleasant Scottish Ale - 'strong', historically speaking, but not now - roundly malted, and with just the right amount (a veritable echo) of smoke. This could be a solid year-round offering for this brewery.
