Appearance: orange in color with a 1/2" head that breaks down pretty quickly.
Smell: some citrus tones are all you can detect.
Taste: caramel, honey, grapefruit, mango, and a decent spiciness from the rye. Bitterness level is moderate.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Lightly crisp for start to finish.
Overall: so-so beer. There are better beers from this brewery that are worth trying.

Served on draft at Orlando's Pizza on Daniel Island, Charleston SC.
Arrives to the bar a deep amber hue, very closely resembling an amberish ale like Yuengling or Sam Adams. Topped with a frothy white head. Generous amounts of lacing down the sides of the glass as the beer is consumed.
Aroma lacks any real hops attack. There are hops in the nose but there is also a lot of caramel. I guess one would say it is balanced.
The flavor was not balanced. It was overly astringent. Not sure what's going on, but this one is like sucking on Goodys headache powder. Really chalky and bitter. The flavor was decent, but the bitter astringency kind of overpowers everything.
The description on the restaurant menu says this is a honey eye IPA. I get the eye because it is bitter as hell. But the honey is nowhere to be found.
Tough to finish this one.
