Eight & Sand Beer Co. "LocoMoSim"
1 Pint can, "CANNED ON: 01/21/2020 13:31 REAL AS A DONUT". Sampled on 02/21/2020
$3.99 @ Roger Wilco, Pennsauken, NJ
Notes via stream of consciousness: A friend of mine brought me a can of this after work one night and I was blown away. Keep in mind, Mosaic is my favorite hop and Simcoe may or may not be number two. They work together so well, and the base beer is great, so how could it fail? It's a very hazy yellow gold beneath a full head of bright white foam. The aroma is bright and fruity with notes of sweet berries, mango, peach, and pineapple, There's even a bit of bubblegum to it. It's not that bitter, and I'm assuming that this was intended as a New England style IPA. It's sweetish but not "sweet". The same fruitiness found in the aroma returns in the flavor although not nearly as strong. There's some additional passion fruit, a dusting of earthiness, and a light touch of pine. In the mouth it's medium bodied and gently crisp & smooth. The lower carbonation is great for the mouthfeel, but it's unfortunately not that great for the head retention and lacing. It took a while for the head to drop but once it did it only had a thin collar left and didn't leave much lacing at all. That's OK though, I'd rather have the softer mouthfeel as it just makes it that much more drinkable. You know, I never even thought about it, how strong is this? 7%! Oh boy, that could be dangerous. I could easily drink three or even four of these in a row because that fruitiness is just so nice. I'e only got a few ounces left right now, and I could definitely go for another one. So, to sum up first let me say that you should take this with a grain of salt as I fear I'm being swayed by the fact that it uses my favorite hops and showcases them really well, but I think except for the appearance it's fantastic.
