Pours virtually black with hints of a dark brown head that disappears almost instantly.
Aroma is roasted malts with fresh roasted coffee. There's a bit of charred wood in there too.
The flavour is roasted malts mixed accented with coffee, tempered with some dairy creaminess, and finished with tobacco smokiness. There's a mild sweetness carrying throughout, and with time the smokiness on the finish starts to transition from tobacco to campfire. After getting accustomed to the smokiness, chocolate notes start to emerge.
This is a rich, boozy stout, and you feel it. It's thick and viscous, and the alcohol makes itself known.
Overall, it's a big, boozy, malty imperial stout with coffee and a bit of smoke. I would have liked more coffee flavour, as I feel it gets lost, but the smokiness (if intentional) is well done - present but without becoming overpowering or turning this into a smoked beer.
