Twist Away the Gates of Steel,” is our wheat/oatmeal stout brewed with a touch of milk sugar, and conditioned on 15lbs of ever-so delicate organic Ethiopian ardi sidamo coffee from our friends Georgio's Coffee Roasters, and brewed for Proletariat’s sixth anniversary party. Aromatics of freshly ground ardi (coffee), chocolate and sweet cream; subtle fruit, caramel, milk chocolate and cold brewed coffee on the palate. This beer is intentionally carbonated on the lower end of the spectrum for a silky mouthfeel.

A: The beer is essentially jet black in color. Only one small trace of dark red is visible near the corner of the glass. It poured with a finger high tan colored head that has very good retention properties and hardly died down.
S: Moderate aromas of coffee are present in the nose along with strong notes of chocolate.
T: The taste has flavors of milk chocolate along with hints of coffee and a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation and some fluffiness.
O: The taste of this beer is very chocolatey. It is very easy to drink and goes down easily as it is on the light side among stouts.
