Served in a snifter glass from the can.
Appearance: Strong chocolate syrup like body with a dark tan head which had an initial rise of maybe half a finger's length off the body.
Smell: Hazelnut aroma with hints of vanilla and coffee bean. Addicting scent but little light if you ask me.
Taste: Sweet coffee also comes off with dark chocolate feel. Mocha gives it a sweetness which only compliments the other flavors.
Mouth: Medium carbonation with a strong aftertaste.
Overall: I have had his gem so many times and always forget to review it. If you're lucky for this full body spectacle to cross your eyes...grab it. Always in a glass, Salud!

Brewed with wheat, flaked and malted oats, chocolate malts and roasted barley, and conditioned on raw organic cacao nibs and Ugandan vanilla beans; 12/15/18 can release...
Relatively thick black pour produces the same in a nonic pint, but just a quick, slim film of tan foam on top... Solid aromas of chocolate syrup and vanilla on the nose, with undertones of sweet black coffee... Presents similarly on the taste - a rich but only moderately sweet beer - chocolate and vanilla apparent but not overpowering or cloying... Bittersweetness is balanced, and affords some drying on the finish, but the sugars are still present... Just a touch of roasty charred malt... The body is super-big, round and rolling and smooth and deep - real killer...
Root + Branch is super-local to me, being in Wantagh, and their beers are brewed and canned by similarly local Great South Bay Brewery - so I doubt this gets any real distro outside of Long Island - but like Nightmare Brewing, Sand City, Other Half , and a handful of others, these are some seriously good beers - don't pass 'em up...
