Foamier than expected was the initial pour with the attempt to empty the entire contents of a pint can into a clear glass liter mug. The massive light biege foam prevented that accomplishment. Quickly, the foam receded, unevenly and leaving almost no glass lacing. Now that all sixteen ounces are within the vessel, the dark caramel brown of its color can be confirmed. There's a sweet and somewhat shallow earthy malt aroma, backed by some mellow hops. Despite all the foam, the carbonation on the tongue seems to be not greatly different than a hand pumped casked English Bitter. This tastes like a traditional English Mild, just a little hoppier, a little more carbonated and a little more alcoholic than the traditional Bitter. In other words, it's tastier. This should be a pleasant choice for almost every level of beer drinker. There's enough flavor for those that love a boldly full tasting beer, but it's not too sweet, nor too bitter to offend those that want a lighter taste. Overall, the malt and hop combination makes this a delightful earthy tasting brew. The mouthfeel is equal to the task, without being too heavy. Unlike many beers that pour foamy, this one receded evenly, leaving only a modest head. This is a pleasant opportunity for those that appreciate English Bitters, or more so, British Brown Ale.
