On-tap at the Brewhouse

A slightly hazed golden color with a white head. Bread and citrus on the nose. A hint of lemon, some orange peel, and wheat bread. Light grassiness on the back end. The flavor is rather unimpressive. Some sweet bready malt and wheat, a touch of sweet citrus, and very faint banana. A light lemon tartness is present as well.

Poured a cloudy yellow color with a small white head. Nose was pretty flat but we had some wheat. Nose is lighter wheat, some clove, not much banana. Mouthfeel is thinner and not much wheat, clove going on. Drinkable but not the best they have to offer.

served with a lemon wedge. a golden with a slight amber hue, minimal head, good lace. smells of that damn lemon, hopefully it doesn't kill the flavor. tastes like thick yeasty bread and it definitely needed that lemon to offset the yeast. this is what happens when weiss beers go ary. I have never had one that is so freaking heavy! instead of being the normal light bodied brew that these normally are this is just a yeasty mess. I have never ever not finished a hefe, but this is pretty bad.

draught at the brewpub. Cloudy dark yellow with a creamy head. Funky yeasty aroma with a tad bit of banana. Wheaty flavor with banana, some light spice, and a tart finish. A little unclean tasting on the whole, and the overly creamy, yeasty mouthfeel makes it worse. A reasonable hef, but I'd like it a little leaner and cleaner.

Draft at brewery, 02/18/08.

Slightly hazy golden beer. Good head retention. Couldn't detect any aroma. A little sweet with typical wheat flavor. Yeasty on finish. Easy to drink, but I personally prefer German style wheat with clove, banana and spice flavors.

Seems like they may have changed the formula a bit from what I had heard and read about this beer in the past.

A: Cloudy, yellow color with a finger-width head that stays around for a while.

S: Smells of citrus and grass.

T: Pretty good flavor - citrusy & grassy just like the smell. Pretty fresh tasting.

M: Medium body for a hefeweizen with a nice fresh flavor.

D: Very drinkable. Flavorful, not heavy and lower alcohol.

Not a bad example of a Hefeweizen. Recommended.
