Draught at the brewery. Served in an eight ounce snifter. Darker brown color with a small beige head that leaves no foam. Malty, fruity aroma with hints of grape and alcohol. The flavor has a big caramel malt presence with big fruity notes of berry and grape. The finish has a strong, yet smooth alcohol presence and strong bitterness that balances the malts quite well and keeps it from feeling too sweet and cloying. Full bodied with low carbonation, and a bit oily. More of a fruity, English style barleywine, but I guess Scotch ales have some overlapp with them, though I missed any peaty, smokey notes. Still, pretty tasty, though nothing exceptional.
