Poured from the bottle into a globe tulip glass.
Deep brown walnut, with a good rich light tan top of three fingers. Some lace but a good solid creamy puck left while drinking.
Great aroma. Light berry esters, good mix of black licorice, molasses, and a touch of tobacco smoke also.
Palate continues more of the same but with minimal fanfare. Rich licorice and light bodied with a supportive even malt backbone. Slight berry fruit but continues much of classic dark malt molasses and sticky char. Definitely hints a little smokey.
Did a nice job on this one nailing the basic style with simple good flavors.
