We took our biggest, most beast-like IPA and christened it Oswald after a man way ahead of his time. Governor Oswald West came up with the brilliant idea to protect Oregon’s coastline from development. Way back in 1913. See what we mean about him? And like any politician, frankly, OIPA has that familiar bitter bite.

12oz can picked up at John's Marketplace (Multnomah Village location) in Portland, OR; labeled as 7.6% abv
Poured into a Public Coast pint glass
p- deep gold/orange with a small off-white cap; a bit lackluster on the pour
n- soft nose of very subtle tropical hop notes
t- biscuity malt supports light melon and mellow orange notes; hints of vanilla; no sign of the 7.6% abv; hops aren't real aggressive, but the profile is pleasant and balanced- I dig it
mf- med-full bodied w/ med carb
o- a pleasant and fairly easy-drinking IPA; would happily have it again

16oz can from brewery. Clear golden pour, bright, small frothy white head. Light hoppy aroma, fruity, citrus, pine. Taste brings stronger hop flavors with an oily feel, mild sweet/fruity notes. A very gentle IPA. I'd have loved to sip this in West Oswald State Park in the old growth forest. Aptly named.

16 oz can from a 4-pack. Purchased from Roth's West Salem Market. Salem OR.
$14
I wonder if this beer changes because mine is a medium hazy sunset golden colour( not clear, though beer is a bit old). Nice creamy thick white head.
Aroma is of floral hops mainly, with a little pine and a tiny bit of dankness creeps in. Nice.
The taste is very refreshing..well balances and not to sweet..but the floral hops are so tasty if understated.
Really good quaffable ( i know!) mouth feel..very good.
Really nice simply made WC IPA.

Clear amber brew with abundant foam in the Hopleaf goblet. Moderately aromatic with peach and pencil shavings. Fruity and bold flavored. Distinct nutty taste, like walnuts with some of the astringent skins. Winey and peachy tasting. Rather bitter aftertaste.
You might call it overly strong, but it's not the typical DIPA either. Less malty and quite dry. I find it a little harsh after some sipping but the peachy taste is interesting. From the 16 oz can purchased at Johns Marketplace. Canned 09/28/21.

12oz can (canned 3/15/2019--relatively fresh at the time of this review, which is from notes) into a tulip. Pours a clear honey golden color w/ a bright white sudsy head.
Aroma is piney and clean w/ some citrus.
Taste is bright and hoppy w/ a blend of citrus and pine. Nicely acidic.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and nicely balanced. Refreshing.
Overall a solid, fairly standard IPA. Good but not outstanding.
