My wife and I stopped here to try their beers and to have something to eat. The brewery is located in an older neighborhood of light industrial buildings and dwellings. Only a small sign above the door identifies the brewpub's entrance. The place was not busy on a Sunday afternoon when we arrived so we took seats at the bar. Service was good. The vibe was nothing exciting.
There were 8 beers on tap so we ordered a sampler flight of 5 of them in order to get an overall evaluation of the beers. The quality of the beers had quite a range. We scored them from a 2.5 to a 4.0 (out of 5). The Cluster Phock IPA was the good one, but two beers were scored below average, with the East Side Rye being the worst one, and Slow & Sexy being not much better. The Slow & Sexy had a vegetable taste to it and was cloudy, and we were told it is conditioned in a pickle barrel, which may explain these characteristics. We didn't like it.
The food that we ordered was okay for pub-style food. (Paninnis and pizza.) The beer prices seemed a little bit high, especially for the quality that we experienced. The bartender said that they are in the process of moving everything from another location in town, so a transition that is not going smoothly may be part of the problem here. The bartender also said that they hope to make mead soon, and to begin a distilling operation. I hope they can get the beer done right before getting into those endeavors.
