Had a glass of this brew served cold at the brewery tasting room. The beer comes in a large glass with minimal beige head resting on the surface. The beer is a fairly clear rusty brown color. The beer is infused with cold brewed hazelnut coffee from one good woman.
The aroma is fairly bold right up front with some brown chocolate malt but dominant scent is some light roasted coffee and heavier hazelnut notes that give a fairly sweet hit to the nose. A very light and sweet coffee, if that makes sense. Appealing nose on this beer.
First sip reveals a smooth textured medium body beer with gentle rolling carbonation. Easy drinking smooth beer on the physical characteristics for this one.
Flavor is rich and malty with some milk chocolate notes, a bit of roasted malt and a good dose of hazelnut and general sweet malt hits. There may be a bit of earthy hops buried, but this is a malt forward beer. I dont get any hint of the 6.5% while drinking or on the finish. I really enjoyed this beer and it is one of my more favorite experiences in recent weeks from a beer glass. Id gladly drink several more of these brown ales and would recommend to anyone that likes malt forward brews.
