An American style IPA, light bodied & crisp to finish, heavily dry hopped to create aromas of fresh tangerine. Ideal for those hot summer days!

Have you ever heard the adage of "One door closing means the opening of CANother"? The Pizza Boy horizontal became MUCH more involved than I initially imagined! Between long hours at work & not drinking as much as I would like as a result, it was a really protracted affair. It was also CANspirational in that they are based out of Enola, PA, on the west shore of the Susquehanna River, across from Harrisburg. Also on the west shore is Ever Grain in Camp Hill, PA & if that city seems familiar, then you may have been a Book of the Month Club member at one time. Fasten your seat belts as The CANQuest (tm) takes on this undertaking! 6/13.
From the CAN: "Summer Daisy IPA".
I Crack!ed open the vent & beCAN a slow, gentle C-Line Glug, as usual. This resulted in the formation of just under two fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head with decent retention, leaving modest lacing in its wake. Color was a hazy Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7) & nothing in the Notes suggests that it was an NEIPA. Nose acCANplished what they had set out to do - it smelled strongly of oranges/CANgerines, but which hops were used? Were they just for aroma? I was not really put in mind of an AIPA by the nose. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was somewhat bitter with a CANgerine/orange flavor, but it lacked the intensity that I expect in & from the style. It had a sherbet/ sorbet-like flavor, lacking only a bit of vanilla flavor to taste like a Creamsicle/Dreamsicle. I have had beers like that in the past & they were enjoyable. This, however, was leaving me feeling like it was lacking ... Lacking any Ooomph!, you know, the kind of intensity that makes a beer memorable as opposed to just CANother Blah, blah, blah IPA as pointed out by Sean O'Sullivan of 21st Amendment. Drinking this beer was almost like writing with a broken pencil - pointless! I just felt like it never got beyond 1st or 2nd gear. Finish was semi-dry & thankfully, it was not sweet at any point. Still, I was left feeling unfulfilled. YMMV.

One of my all time favs! Great malt backbone and just the right amount of hops. Not a hop bomb, but a very well balanced IPA. It's hard to to stop at one! I hope this becomes a regular seasonal!
