A sour ale conditioned on pineapple & passion fruit then sprinkled with fairy dust. Tropical aromas & flavors make this a very refreshing ale!

13 oz pour on tap at Lures Bar & Grille. Pours a cloudy yellow with very little head or lacing. Aroma and flavor are sweet pineapple with a hint of tart passionfruit (wish there was more!) and another weird flavor as well, kind of like overripe/fermented pineapple. Too sweet overall. Not unpleasant, but also not something I'd order again.

I CAN really only get one (1) beer in per day what with working 10.5 hours/day x 6 days/week so it needs to be well-chosen. Today's is a CANtinuation of the brewery horizontal of these guys that I CANpleted recently. I just scored this (& a couple of others) at Rieker Bottle Works & it is perfect for today's entry.
From the CAN: "Paradise Awaits Passion Fruit Sour Ale"; "Office-5G 8:35PM"; "Tart * Tropical * Fruity";
"Camp Hill, PA"; "Est. 2016".
I was surprised, during the Crack! of the vent, when I got a bit of a spritz and it revealed itself to be a brimful craft CAN! Well, now. I CANtinued this celebratory moment by CANducting a moderate C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass, watching in rapt fascination as it created a rolling, roiling finger of bubbly French Vanilla-colored head with lousy retention, quickly beCANming wisps. 8=( Color was a murky, turbid Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7). Nose was absolutely redolent with passion fruit! Mmm. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium, not watery, but on-par for the style. The taste was tart, lip-smacking and definitely passion fruit. Mmm.
Sister (?) site Untappd mentions pineapple, but I did not taste any in this iteration. Instead, it had the unmistakable tang of passion fruit & I'd like to set the record straight that a LOT of tropical fruits are tangy & not all sweet. For a time on active duty in the Navy, I subsisted mainly on FF&V (fresh fruits & vegetables) & while on WestPac, I really went to town. I even found a Filipina LBFM who would rub herself with fruit in lieu of perfume!
I have said, perhaps repeatedly to the point of ad nauseum, that I am not an aficionado of Tart/Sour beers. That is due to my GIRD, which is set off by quantities of such beers to the point of being downright painful. OTOH, that does not mean that I CANnot appreciate them when I drink them.
This was quite good, really showcasing the passion fruit addition & allowing the beer's tartness to CANpliment the taste of the fruit. Finish was tart & dry and actually rather refreshing in the face of yet CANother hot, hazy, humid Summer's day. One was satiating for me, but if this sort of thing is your bag, by all means glom onto one! YMMV.
