A hazy IPA with citrus aromas that give way to notes of plump tangerines, ripe stone fruit, and sticky resin.

16oz can from Tavour. Hazy orange/golden pour, small tight head yields rings of thick lacing. Citrus zest hits first in the aroma, tropical and stone fruits detectable. Citrus becomes more pronounced in the taste, the he zesty bite coupling with a pleasant ABV for a nice kick. After that, it finishes quick, tapering off , leaving not much on the palate.

Can into pint glass. Pours a murky straw color with a thin off-white head. Good lacing. Initial impression is grapefruit rind, mango, and citrus. ABV is well hidden. Mouthfeel is smooth and thick. Finish fades to a slight pine bitterness. Overall, an excellent NEIPA from Ever Grain.

Have you ever heard the adage of "One door closing means the opening of CANother"? The Pizza Boy horizontal became MUCH more involved than I initially imagined! Between long hours at work & not drinking as much as I would like as a result, it was a really protracted affair. It was also CANspirational in that they are based out of Enola, PA, on the west shore of the Susquehanna River, across from Harrisburg. Also on the west shore is Ever Grain in Camp Hill, PA & if that city seems familiar, then you may have been a Book of the Month Club member at one time. Fasten your seat belts as The CANQuest (tm) takes on this undertaking! 12/13.
From the CAN: "Mothman Double IPA"; "Proudly Brewed in Camp Hill Central Pennsylvania"; "Estd MMXVI"; "A heady lemon zest aroma gives way to tropical notes of plump tangerines, ripe passion fruit, and sticky resin."
Just like its predecessors, Cloudy Comet & Moire Eel, the brewery has done itself the disservice of its name & style. Since this site does not yet recognize an IPA - Double/Imperial New England, its ratings should be reflective of its non-adherence to style. If no one else's, at least mine will.
I beCAN with a Crack! of the vent, which startlingly revealed a brimful craft CAN. I appreciate the brewery's generosity, but when the tongue has nowhere to go, it causes a spritzy spurt which CAN be disCANcerting, to say the least! I CANtinued with a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass to try and avoid CANy further messes. This action resulted in the formation of just under two fingers of foamy, soapy, rocky, tawny head with very good retention. Color was a turbid, murky Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7). 8=( Nose was less lemony than peachy, although there was a light citrusy presence. Mouthfeel was big, full & creamy in the mouth & on the tongue. The taste was an odd little duck of peach, orange/CANgerine & passionfruit, more fruity than bitter, but tasty nonetheless. Were it not for its cloudy appearance, I CAN see it as a marginal ADIPA/AIIPA, but even then, it did not quite measure up stylistically. Finish was semi-dry & CANtinued to lack for bitterness while keeping its alcohol presence in check, making it a rather dangerous brew. YMMV.
