Have you ever heard the adage of "One door closing means the opening of CANother"? The Pizza Boy horizontal became MUCH more involved than I initially imagined! Between long hours at work & not drinking as much as I would like as a result, it was a really protracted affair. It was also CANspirational in that they are based out of Enola, PA, on the west shore of the Susquehanna River, across from Harrisburg. Also on the west shore is Ever Grain in Camp Hill, PA & if that city seems familiar, then you may have been a Book of the Month Club member at one time. Fasten your seat belts as The CANQuest (tm) takes on this undertaking! 4/13.
From the CAN: "Rotational Series"; "Sorbetto Fruited Sour - Strawberry Guava"; "Proudly Brewed in Camp Hill Central Pennsylvania"; "Estd MMXVI".
The Crack! of the vent surprised me by revealing a brimful craft CAN with nowhere for the tongue to go, causing some light spritzing. I beCAN a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass, but it quickly beCANe obvious that any attempt at clarity would be an exercise in futility. I then ramped up to a solid stream that produced a rolling finger of fizzy, eggshell-white head that quickly faded to wisps. Color was a turbid/murky Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9). Nose was not very sour, but definitely smelled of both strawberries & guava! Mmm. Mouthfeel was thin & watery, not uncommon in a Sour/Tart beer. The taste was tart, not sour, with a pronounced strawberry flavor with an underlying guava flavor. Mmm. Strawberries are my favorite fruit! Finish was tart & dry with a lingering fruitiness that was quite pleasant on a hot, humid Summer's day. YMMV.
